Hey, I’m Ethan Miller.
I live in Austin, Texas now, but my story starts way back in Bardstown, Kentucky. You know, the bourbon capital?
Growing up surrounded by those rolling hills and the smell of whiskey… well, distilling is kinda in my blood.
It wasn’t a straight shot, though.
- Went to the University of Kentucky.
- Got a Chemical Engineering degree.
- Worked in oil and gas for a bit.
Good money, sure. But my heart wasn’t in it. I missed the art, the history, the community of those distilleries back home.
So, I took a leap.
I went to Siebel Institute and World Brewing Academy. Intense courses! They really cemented my understanding of the craft.
My first gig? Quality control at Maker’s Mark. I learned so much about what goes into making world-class bourbon.
Then, I became head distiller at a small craft place in Lexington. Finally, I could experiment! New mash bills, aging techniques…
We even won a few awards. Pretty cool, right? More importantly, I learned patience and dedication.
Now, I’m in Austin. I consult for distilleries. Helping new ones get started, and established ones refine their processes.
I love sharing my knowledge. Helping others bring their dreams to life. Seeing a spirit I helped create in the hands of someone who appreciates it? Best feeling.
But it’s more than just the technical stuff. I’m fascinated by the cultural side of spirits.
Each bottle tells a story. The land, the people, the traditions…
I’m all about responsible enjoyment. Promoting appreciation, not just consumption.
When I’m not consulting, you can find me:
- Hiking around Austin.
- Messing with cocktail recipes.
- Playing blues guitar.
Oh, and I’m a certified Bourbon Steward. I take that seriously. Always learning, always sharing accurate info.
My goal? To give you the best info about distilleries and spirits. Honest, insightful, and easy to understand.
Because everyone, from the newbie to the expert, can appreciate the history and art in every bottle.
